I made friends!

I'm exhausted but it was a good day. A long day. But a good day. I stuck around and helped out at Bean's school and then drove her to the Jumpin Junction down the road for her class field trip. Figuring I had no other real excuse to leave I stuck around and helped chaperon the event. It's this giant indoor facility with a bunch of those inflatable "houses." They all have slides, some have climbing places or trampoline areas.  Let me tell you running after a bunch of bouncing four year olds is way more fun than exercising on the treadmill. Adults were even allowed to bounce around. There was one super fast slide that was by far and away my favorite. Even the other kiddos in the school enjoyed playing with me.

After Bean and I got home it had warmed up a tad so we took the dog out on the beach and went for a walk. I was able to take some amazing shots of all the icy bits that had floated up the shore. The dog of course ran away, again. Only to be found back home.
The previous au-pair was friends with an au-pair that lives down the road and lives with the family whose mom works at the same clinic as my girls Dad. She had texted me previously asking to hang out but I was tied up with the girls at the time. Well she invited me out tonight. I was never more grateful for having adult time. I had to explain to Bean that sometimes adults need time away from kiddos. I don't think she got the concept because she practically followed me out the door.

We had such a fun time out. Either that or I was so craving social contact that anything would have been fun for me.

We ended up going to a fancyish looking Chinese restaurant on the outskirts of Soldotna. The food would have been good had they not poisoned me with chicken in my vegetarian chow mein. The pieces of chicken were so small I didn't notice it until a large piece cam to the top. I feel super  sick just thinking about it.

It was really comforting talking to someone who is in practically the same boat that you are in. Both of us feeling the same away about being an au-pair and not always sure what the etiquette is and the daily ups and downs of raising kids.

We thought we saw the Aurora Borealis lights. Or as I told her either that or we're a pack of idiots chasing down city lights. Thankfully she loves to drive and didn't mind taking me down creepy looking back woods roads. Either way it was fun driving around and she showed me parts of town I'd never seen before. Granted it was pitch black but it was still neat.
